Social Media Content Producer
(Part-Time, Remote)
Bike Monkey Inc. · Sonoma County, CA / Remote
$2,000/month · Up to 20 hours/week · Travel reimbursed on event weekends
About Bike Monkey
Bike Monkey produces cycling events that riders build their seasons around: Levi's GranFondo, Stetina's Paydirt, Wente 8 Hour MTB, Truckee Gravel, The Big Lost, The Bovine Classic, and The Death Ride. They're road, gravel, and mountain bike events across California, Nevada, and Idaho. Each one has its own personality, its own audience, and its own story. We need someone who can tell those stories well.
The Role
You'll create draft social content for our seven-event portfolio and our two main accounts on Instagram and Facebook. You'll also cross-post to other niche platforms where our riders spend their time.
Most of the year you'll work from home. On event weekends you'll be in the field with our team, or out on course on your own, capturing the ride as it happens and getting it out to the world.
What You'll Do
- Become intimately familiar with each of our events and brand.
- Produce draft posts, captions, graphics, and short videos for each event account, and submit them for review before publishing.
- Keep a steady posting rhythm on every event's channels all year, not just race week.
- Answer DMs and comments promptly, in the Bike Monkey voice.
- Assist with answering incoming event-related customer inquiries.
- Adapt and cross-post content for niche platforms such as Strava, Reddit, and others as necessary for Bike Monkey to remain connected to its existing audience and emerging trends.
- Build stories and posts from our large event photo and video libraries.
- Travel to event weekends and capture raw photo and video at rides and races. Expect remote locations and early mornings, and publish throughout the event.
- Cut short video drops, including basic editing and audio work, that give riders a reason to notice us.
What You Bring
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom, or equivalent vector and photo tools.
- Basic video editing and audio splicing skills.
- Real, everyday fluency with Instagram and Facebook.
- Strong writing, with the range to match Bike Monkey's voice across very different event brands.
- Clear communication and reliability. You hit deadlines without reminders.
- A proactive attitude towards staying ahead of your work.
- The ability to travel and work long days in the field.
- Familiarity with the cycling world is strongly preferred. You don't need to race, but you should understand why people do.
A Word About AI
We like tools that speed up the workflow. But our copy is written by people, for people. Generic AI-generated filler doesn't land with our audience, and it won't land with us. If you can't write it yourself, this isn't the job for you.
We also rely on real photography and video, and we shoot plenty of it at every event.
The Details
- Part-time, up to 20 hours/week, fixed at $2,000/month. The pay structure rewards efficiency, but expects that you never cut corners.
- Remote, except for event weekends
- On event weekends, travel and meal expenses are reimbursed and lodging is provided
- No health benefits
- Ideal for a freelancer looking for steady part-time work. This is bigger than a side gig, but leaves room for you to balance your work/life schedule.
